Wimbledon Windmilers

WIMBLEDON WINDMILERS – Running Triathlon Social and Marathon….

Is one of the biggest running clubs in London, We welcome people of all levels, whether you’re an experienced athlete, or you haven’t run for a few years, or you’re just starting out.  There’ll be people your level to run and socialise with!

We are very happy to join in the Capability Brown weekend, as we are at the Stadium in Wimbledon Park every Saturday morning.  We have coaches who lead with some warm up exercises, and everyone has the chance to chat to the coaches who will be leading the session.  All our coaches are volunteers; like our other members, some are fast and some are slow, but what they have in common is a love of running.

If you enjoy our running sessions, and would like to try our club, the best place to start is with one of our Sunday morning club runs, from the Windmill on Wimbledon Common.  We meet at 10 o’clock.

There are usually three distances to choose from, either 3 or 5 or 7 miles.  These are led by friendly coaches; the 3 mile run is suitable for beginners and social runners; both the 3 mile and 5 mile groups will stop regularly to regroup, so no one gets left behind.

The 3 mile group stays on the Common, while the 5 mile group will sometimes go into Richmond Park.  The 7 mile group usually goes into the Park.  You don’t need to let us know you are coming, just turn up, you will see the group near the Windmill car park.  But if you have any questions, do e-mail enquiry@windmilers.org.uk and Claire or Ralph will try to help.  There are no silly questions!

During the week, we meet at Belgrave Hall in Wimbledon Village on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, at 7.15pm.  These runs are for people who want to get a bit fitter or faster, by running more than once a week. They are more structured than our Sunday runs; the coach will ask the group, for example, to run several times along a measured road, keeping on at the same speed (you decide how fast you can go) or up and down a hill.  Doing this kind of running is often easier to do with other people than on your own, and you’ll find yourself improving!
