Dance at Ricards Lodge

Dance at Ricards Lodge

Students from Ricards Lodge are delighted to have been invited to take part in the Capability Brown Festival Weekend. It is wonderful to celebrate the life and work of such an inspirational person whose work is available for students to visit locally; within Merton at Wimbledon Park, as well as Hampton Court and Kew Gardens and of course much further afield.

Lancelot Brown was nicknamed “Capability” because he would tell his clients that their property had “capability” for improvement; this is the ethos that our students aspire to with their hard work and creativity through the performing arts.

The work which will be showcased during the festival will comprise of students from Year 7 to 13 and include choreographies developed as part of the dance curriculum as well as students who are involved in our extra – curricular dance groups such as Step into Dance and the Ricards Dance Collective.

Dance gives students the opportunity to develop their passion for a subject which they enjoy and one which allows them to develop collaborative skills as well as key skills linked to the profession and dance industry. Choreographies will include ballet, tap, jazz, African, Bollywood pieces and more.

Please do come along and see us in the Lake Room at The Wimbledon Club (in Church Road SW19 5AG) on Sunday 9th September at 12 Noon and see the students performing; it may even inspire you to tap your toes !
