A unique opportunity to hear Steffie Shields, MBE, author, photographer, historic landscape consultant, and Capability Brown devotee, talk about Lancelot Capability Brown (1716-1783), the designer of Wimbledon Park. Learn more about this great eighteenth century English landscape architect and what he achieved for over 200 properties in Great Britain.
A CAPABILITY BROWN TEA, SERVED IN THE LAKE ROOM AT THE WIMBLEDON CLUB, WILL PRECEDE THIS PRESENTATION AT 17.00 HOURS.
“From 15:30 until 17:00 on Sunday 6th September, Steffie’s Shield’s, MBE, Talk and Presentation will be preceded by a ‘Capability Brown Walk’ from Wimbledon Park Road entrance to The Park, through the Public Park, around the Lake, to The Wimbledon Club, which will be led by Professor Dave Dawson, professional ecologist and scientist, who is writing a book about Capability Brown.
The Walk will be followed by an Afternoon Tea in the Lake Room of The Wimbledon Club at 17:00 (cost £6.00) and after the Tea, by an illustrated Presentation by Steffie Shields, MBE, entitled – “With a Spade and Watering Pot; Capability Brown at Wimbledon Park”
